Things to see & do near the Tashirotaira Highlands cycling route
The Towada Lake stretches over Aomori Prefecture and Akita Prefecture.
The source of the Oirese Mountain Stream is Towada Lake, and that stream
flows through a primeval forest. Along the stream, there is a promenade
as long as 14 kilometros and as far as Yakeyama of the Towada City, and
walkers can enjoy the scenery of the stream. The Towada Lake and the Oirase
Mountain Stream have been designated as a national special place of scenic
beauty.

The Towada Lake and a bronze statue of young girls which is made by the
famous poet Koutaro Takamura.
The Oirase Mountain Stream.
The Sannai Maruyama Site is a large settlment of the Early and Middle Jomon
Period (approximately 3,900B.C. to 2,200B.C.). Many ruined objects of those
days such as residence and tomb were reconstructed, and whole village has
been recreated.
